A buddy and I was coming north on FM 1442, above Bridge City, traveling towards Interstate 10. We were about to reach the Cow Bayou bridge when we saw a medium size car swerve off the highway and shoulder, just before reaching a driveway. The driveway was built up with a culvert, so it had shoulders. The car hit the shoulder of the driveway and went airborne, crossed the driveway and hit the opposite highway embankment. I was past the car at this point, but the car did a flip and a half before coming to a rest.
We got out and ran up the road, while I was calling 911.
A young lady had dragged herself out of her vehicle as we got there and was laying on the ground, with some blood on her from a cut on her left arm and was in some shock.
A lot of people that were traveling behind us got there immediately and was able to keep her motionless and comfort her, while I was on the line with 911.
Everthing went as well as could be prayed for, considering the tremendous force of the accident. She was sore where the seatbelt had caught her and her face had some soreness from the airbag hitting her, and the cut.
But the paramedics got there and took her to the hospital, but I think all is okay with the young lady.
But you can bet I plenty scared of what I was going to find when I got to her car. I think the seatbelt and airbag probably saved a young lady's life today.
