    TPWD draw questions

If you put 3 names on your application, and the hunt is for 2 deer, do you get to kill 2 deer between the 3 of you, or 2 deer each, meaning 6 deer?

Do each of you pay the $80 permit fee if selected, or one $80 fee covers all 3 of you?

Do all 3 of you get to hunt the same area? How do they decide which area you hunt?

Two deer per hunter. $80 for each hunter. You usually will be assigned compartments by group unless it is by blind, and I don't know how they do that.

      This.
By assigned blinds, they will take you to a stand and drop you off. This stand may be a pallet blind with a chair or a 5 gal bucket. You are confined to this stand till they come back to pick you up. They usually draw for stands, so the guy down the way to the right and left of you may be strangers, and not one in your group.
Compartment hunts will be an area that you and your group will have all to yourselves and can be free to come and go as you please. Again, they will select the area. But I have asked for certain compartments in the past since I hunted the place before, and they have usually been good about letting you hunt it.

And if its a compartment hunt where they allow ATV use, are there any special requirements to use an ATV? ATV safety courses required, use of helmets, ATV registered with DPS, etc...?

The ones I've been on, no. Main thing they focused on was "common sense usage"!!!

At Richland there use to be a requirement for ATV safety course, use of hemets, and registration.

Some Hunt Areas will allow the use of ATV/OHV's but those will be noted for the area for that particular hunt.

-operates an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or off-road vehicle (ORV) on Public Hunting Lands and is neither a disabled person (displaying

department for specific areas and time periods.

Best to carefully read the Drawing book to make sure what all is allowed and/or prohibited as well as on how to fill out an application correctly. All can be found here

On some hunts they will draw group names and let you select compartments based on what order you drew. I got first pick a few years ago on the Matador Turkey hunt and really should have done more research.
