    Custom boots?

Anyone have recommendations on a good book maker? I'm in san angelo and was thinking J L Mercer or M L leddy's. Any input is appreciated.

I don't think you could go wrong with either of those. If I lived in San Angelo, I sure wouldn't leave town to get boots made.

I have 3 pair made by Eddie Kimmel from the Comanche area but I haven't looked him up in a while.

I have a pair of ML Leddy's and they are unbelievably comfortable. I have no experience with other custom boot makers, but I can say Leddy's makes a dang good boot! Can't go wrong with them...

I'm wearing my Leddy's right now but like other's, I don't have a lot of experience past these. Not exactly sure but they have to be close to 18 years old.

I'm getting close to needing another set of soles.

Ive worn JL Mercer boots my whole life and I love them. Historically they have always been considerably cheaper than Leddy's that's why I was able to wear them since when I was a kid. Their boots started at $99 and you couldnt buy Justins for that. When I graduated from A&M I got the fanciest pair of Mercer boots I could imagine I spent $500 back in '01.

From what I understand the Mercer family has sold the boot company but the name remains the same but the the prices have changed in the past couple of years.

I personally think that Mercer makes a better boot than Leddy's. Slightly less expensive too.

HOWEVER, the boot I've ever had made for my foot is from Pablo Jass in Lampasas. No question about it. Quite a few pair of custom boots in my closet and the pairs of Jass boots are a step above the rest. You know its a good boot when you have them made as dress boots and can't ever wear them out in to a work boot! In all seriousness, Pablo Jass is the best I've seen,

I have 2 pair of ML Leddy's and wouldn't trade them for anything else available. It all comes down to what hide you want and how much you are willing to spend.

I have a pair of Leddy's being made right now. They said about 12 months turn around time. I was amazed at the time and care taken in the measuring and fitting.

Got fitted for my first pair of custom boots today. Mercer Boots has been in operation in the same building in San Angelo since 1923. Got a complete tour and history lesson from the owner. Building was a bar and whorehouse in the 1800s.

Mom has some Pablo Jass boots, I haven't handled too many handmade boots but they are very nicely made compared to others I've seen. There have been people look at the stitching on them and know exactly who made them. Says something about a maker. I was prob 12 when she got them. Don't know about now but his shop was just a small place with materials laying everywhere. Nothing fancy about it.
