Any State Farm Agents? Progressive Customers?

I did the Progressive deal today, and found out that my 6 mo. premium for better coverage with them is about $380 less. I've been with State Farm since I got my license at 16, so I've never tried anything else honestly. We also have small life ins. policies with SF.

    Question #1 is this...

If I tell my agent that Progressive is cheaper, will they try to get me a better price, or is the price I have with SF set?

    Question #2 is this...

Anybody have Progressive and have a review of their coverage and service?

We actually had Progressive, but ended up finding a better deal with AIG. One thing's for certain, be sure to compare apples to apples, and shop around. Good luck in your search!

Progressive offered me a better deal, but I have the best State Farm agent around......Always helpful and never try to sell stuff to me that I don't ask about.....Plus I have been with this agent for over 15 years and she says I am one of her boys that she has watched grow up over the years....The service I get far out weighs saving money on insurance. Plus I never have any hassels with claims...

This is true. If you vehicle is wrecked, almost all ins. claims will be payed on after market parts(junk) except State Farm. They will pay for factory replacement parts and their service is great.

I've had State Farm since I was 16 and just totaled my truck. They ended up giving me $3k more than I paid for it brand new. I also have my home insurance with them and you can get some nice package deals going. Never had any problems with State Farm and they are always more than eager to help with anything I need. In fact, my agent is trying to get me 4.6% interest on my new truck that is 6.4% when I financed with GMAC.

Wanna Bet? I cut State Farm Customers Insurance bills in half pretty regularly here lately

It's funny, I've had Allstate for 20 years for home and auto, and the few times I decided to shop around I could not beat the package price. But when I had to transfer ownership of my son's truck to him (we could not get it to pass the smog-nazis here where I live, but it passed in the county he goes to college in), AAA blew Allstate away for his insurance premium- but was more expensive than mine!

                    Go figure.

Is it apples to apples coverages? Not doubting you, just asking.... If you are talking same coverages for half price, I'd be interested in knowing what company you're writing through. I'd still have to think long and hard about switching, as I am personal friends with my agent and most of the adjusters. I get great service. But half price would be nice.

I had an Allstate agent quote me half price from State Farm rates a few years ago, and it turned out to be bare minimum liability limits, no towing, etc.... I don't think he knew much what he was doing, as he was new. I gave him a copy of my dec pages and asked for quotes on identical coverages, and he came back with a half price quote on far less than half the coverage.

I sat with my State Farm policy, and chose identical coverage on Geico, and it was HALF the price of State Farm.

Might be time to make the switch.

                            Anybody have complaints about Geico???

I did the same thing just a few weeks ago, Will. I too, had been with State Farm since I was 15. When their six month premium on my new truck came back at $580, I figured I better shop around. I went to Geico and for the same coverage, it was $368. That's a hideous difference.

23 years with State Farm and I've only had one fender bender..... I'll take the savings, thank you.
