    Field dressing a deer !

So I was watching mountain men on the history channel and one of the guys shot a deer and the narrator of the tv show said it takes most half an hour to feild dress a deer .

How many of y'all have timed y'all's self feild dressing and what's your fastest time you've done it in .

Me Im no speedy Gonzales but it takes me bout 5 to 10 min of I'm not distracted

About the same, and that's bein careful cause I save all of my capes if they are bucks. Perks of having a brother that's a taxidermist. He always needs extra capes

I'm pretty slow but don't field dress a deer unless I can't get em cleaned very quickly.

I skin and remove the front shoulders, neck / trimmins, back straps, tender loins and lastly the rear quarters letting the backbone and guts fall into the bucket.

Here's an interesting twist, I think he's done this before.

I'm glad that I hunt close enough to not need to field dress an animal..

Just to field dress? Probably about 45 seconds if I'm trying to be quick. I think that is the fastest I have been timed by someone. But I think I can go a little faster.

I prefer to leave mine intact. Skin it on the rack drop the rib cage with guys intact into the bucket for disposal.

I don't gut mine anymore. I can quarter and get tenders without gutting it

Takes about a minute to field dress one and I generally skin and quarter them in 10 or so minutes to ice down in a cooler.
