    Generator Help!!

I have a 4500 watt generator that normally runs a roof top AC on my work trailer. It has always worked before, but now, the AC will run for a couple of minutes, then the compressor shuts off like it's losing power to it, but the fan still blows, but it's just hot air. I know it isn't the AC because I just had a brand new one installed today and it worked fine when plugged in to their power at their shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ground? Loose wire? Corroded connection? Too hot??

Same size A/C? Are you plugging it into the lock plug or the regular household style plug?

You most likely have a bad capacitor on your generator. Take a reading on the voltage your generator is putting out, if its less than 115-120 your capacitor is most likely bad. If you don't have a volt meter go inside generator and look at the capacitor, most of the time if it is bad it will be swollen (puffed up). Hope this helps.

Not that I've noticed. It runs all my equipment fine inside, but it seems like its not holding up to the AC's load anymore. It's ran this same AC for no telling how many hours in the past. Now it's acting up.

That may be exactly what it is, the guy that installed the new AC today said when the compressor was running, he would show 115, once the compressor shut off, he was getting around 109. Cant remember if he said off or on when he was getting those readings, but one of them, knocked the voltage down.
