Attention all that have bowhunted in RSA!

Question. Getting grief froma federal lady game warden in Dallas at Coppersmiths about my bushbucks, klipspringer and lioness at their facility. this is her first conversation or requirement with the contact at Coppersmiths directed to me:

Could you please request a copy of the "ordinary permit" as a well as the South African Professional Hunters Register for Mr. Douglas' lions.

Also the proof of legal take OR hunting license for the Bushbuck and Klipsspringer?

Next, after a phone conversation with the contact (Ryan) at Coppersmith's she said:

After speaking with Inspector Theurer at US FWS, she informed me that what she really is looking for in short is your "Hunting License" that allowed you to hunt these animals in the first place. A copy of that I'm hoping will suffice.

Any idea what gives, do we need a hunting license for any plains game in RSA or am I fixing to get the shaft and loose my animals? HELP!

I don't know if you need one or not. From her choice of words I bet Microsoft word and some creativity could solve the problem. Odds are she has never seen one.

Yeah and if she has you just commited fraud and will end up much worse off. I would contact the outfitter and see what they have to say.

You don't have to have a license but sometimes (like now) they ask for proof that your outfitter did. He keeps a log of all trophies that should suffice. I had to do this once with a klippy. Plus your lions are a CITES animal, so that may be what has her skirt blowed up.

I have the Cites permit for the lioness and so does Coppersmiths. Not sure what she wants with a "hunting license".

Just for fun fax her a copy of your Texas super-combo and then play dumb,....you'll give her something to tell the other gov't employees about at the water cooler while you get your PH to send something over.

There was paperwork that my PH had to fill out for every animal we shot on our trips over. He said it was stuff that was required by our customs in order to get our trophies. Your PH/Outfitter should have what you need. Of course it should have been included to begin with.

Bingo! CITES should cover the lioness.
