Neighbor has fawn trapped in yard

My neighbor, who I never talk to, has a fawn trapped in his yard. It looks like a normal whitetail fawn. The doe jumps his fence and nurses it, but then takes off when anyone drives by.

My guess is the fawn was born in his yard and can't jump the fence to get out. It is about 1/2 acre with about 4-5' field fence.

I first saw it 1 1/2 weeks ago when I went out of town. I have seen it every day this week since I got back.

I have never spoken to him and don't even know his name. Should I go talk to him or call the game warden. His house is up a driveway behind a locked gate.

We have a neighbor in Magnolia that this same thing has happened every Spring for the last 4 years. They are convinced its the same doe, and she is doing it for the fawn's safety. They have all jumped or found a way out eventually.

      Talk to him.

Maybe drop a short note in his mailbox?

(if you can't catch him outside of his gate)

Hopefully they don't have pets that might mess with it. I wonder how long it takes till they are capeable of clearing the fence with the mom?

I figure it will make it out eventually if it wasn't so hot. It is 100°F out there now and he only has one tree for shade. The grass is mowed. He did put out a 5 gallon bucket of water for it today.

Good deal... at least he's aware of it.

I bet he sees that it gets out.

Why doesn't he pick it up and set it outside the fence I wonder?

It is fast, there is no way a person could catch it .

If it happened at my house, I would open the gate and push it out. He is a dime store cowboy and has a couple of young kids that probably enjoy seeing it.

How about allowing your neighbor to mind his own business in his own yard?

why do you think you need to call the GW??

I had a doe last year that crawled under my chain link fence to have twins. She stayed in there some and came and went as she saw fit. All survived. I guess she knew they were safe there.

Just thought the game warden would know what was best for the deer.

I could let him mind his own business, but then he doesn't have a deer breeders license or an approved deer breeders fence.
