The $1 1969 Olds 98 convertible, 455 Rocket engine

My first car was a 1973 Olds 98 with a 455 Rocket. Since dad owned a muffler shop back then, I put dual exhaust and 18" glass packs on it. It was loud, and fast. That car would run, but man did it drink gas. Or as my dad used to say, "it will pass everything except a gas station."
I remember the first time I floated the valves in it at 145 mph, I thought I had blown the engine.

That may be a "sell it and buy a ......" car. There are collectors that would fight over it.

I've tried talking my son into flipping it for a big profit but he thinks it'll be a chic magnet with the top down and his Weim in the car with him. He's a senior in HS this year and then off to college so I'll get to drive it.

That thing is a tank. There is nothing better for a kid than a tank to drive. He could hit most any other vehicle and walk away unscathed.
