    Even Wasps Can Kill

The lady that owned one of the small places I hunt on died a few days ago. The well man was there working on the well and she walked over to see if he needed some tea or water. They talked for a bit and then a red wasp stung her. She told him that she didn't do well with wasp stings and that she was going to the house to take a Benedryl. Just as she got to the door she collapsed. He called 911 but she was dead when they got there. She was in her early sixties and in basically good health, just allergic I guess.

    Yall be careful around them.

I swell up like a balloon when one of those red *******s sting me. My friends tell me I'm stupid for not having an epipen, and I believe they're right

Sad deal, have heard of folks that were never allergic becoming that way later in life.

The epi pen is crucial if you are allergic. That is what opens your airway for you to continue to breathe. The benadryl is just to stop the allergic response and is slower acting than the epi.

I have been gradually getting worse as far as my reaction to stings. You are never allergic the first time you get exposed to something. Your body may respond normally for years, then one time, you get the response to the allergen that is bad and forever after that, your are screwed.

I had a fishing buddy die from a bee bite 20 odd years ago. The bee was in his cabin, and he had captured it in a cup to let it out back into the wild. His wife said he should kill it, he said, naw, that ain't right. Darn thing flew out the front porch and turned a 180, and bit him on his arm.
                    Dead a few days later.
If you are remotely allergic, get it checked out.

when I was a kid, 10 or so, I got stung by a wasp (not red wasp) while under my porch catching a kitten. It hurt way worse than any other sting I ever had. I went and took a shower and told my mom I didn't feel right. well I could hardly talk my tongue was swollen as was everything else. I got to the hospital and they said I would have died within the next half hour or so if I didn't get medical attention

This is at or near the top of my worst nightmares list. I have a phobia of setting off a mega nest of these devils on my open cab tractor- While bush hogging shooting lanes each year in the woods.

Did I read that somebody suggested carrying a bottle of diesel to put on yourself if you get attacked? Seems extreme but I'm up for most anything as I just know how real this possibility is in this neck of the woods!

                              Any similar ideas?
