Couple of weeks ago - about 100 miles due east of Padre Island National Seashore. Went 20ft plus seas and wind gusts over 60 mph. Scored tuna and encountered this front on the sail home to Port A.

Cool Video. Did you take said video? If so, what in the heck were you doing out in that mess?

This is Literally my worst nightmare! I got sick just watching that video. Looks like a party boat. Can’t believe they didn’t haul anchor and get home before that. The folks on that boat didn’t look too happy.

Went down to the Texas/Mexican International waters to chase tuna - two day trip. The forecast had the front blowing in Saturday. Being 200 miles from Port, you don't have the option to run anywhere quickly at 18 knots. We sailed down Thursday and the front moved in on our return on Friday.

Nailed a bunch of tuna, mahi and started our sail back....knowing the forecast changed. Not much to do about it.....just rig for the blow, put her head, bow to the seas and ride it out till it passes.

95ft aluminum/steel boat with twin Cats. She rode the storm fine, no one seasick and within an hour, back on course to Port.

Everyone inside sat and calmly watched and waited till the conditions changed. To get up and try to move around, tossed like a rag doll.

                              Boat around 70 - 90 tons at 95ft length

The long range fishing fleet out of San Diego, boats are all similar in length and size. The largest in San Diego is only 120ft long (Red Rooster). Same with that fleet, you sail for a week or two, you deal with it offshore since the range traveled, literally isn't a day trip sail plan.

The water depth in the area we scored tuna = 9,000 ft

The water depth in the storm area = 1200 - 1600 ft
