Add rain soaked oaks and lichens, full of carbohydrates, these lichens become a very sought after whitetail forage. I've witnessed massive groups of whitetail fighting over a broken branch, knocked down from a passing storm, the day after a solid rainfall and resultant soaking, rendering these lichens into a very edible and tasty state for whitetail.

Hope this knowledge helps some afield.
