Field and Stream's "Your Perfect Bow"

Just got done reading this month's issue of Field and Stream... and I have to say, that with reading all of their conclusions that they've reached in regards to brace height, and AtA, I cant say that I completely agree with some of their conclusions.

Maybe I'm just arm char warrioring, but what do you guys think?

    It's probably true (their conclusions).

The main reason ppl like a a longer ATA is it has a better shooting platform as far as feeling better at full draw. And a longer BH does have a better draw cycle IMO. Like Daniel said Their conclusions not ours lol

I have to agree on the AtA. I have had two short bows (A Heli-m and a DNA) and for the life of me, I have had all sorts of problems with them due to my 30 in DL. I knew it would be a problem when I bought em... Being stupid sure is expensive.

Seems like sound reasoning to me. With modern bows I don't think it has the same effect as with older and slower bows. I was in the long bh camp as well until I read this. I never really thought about it that way.

Lol yeah a short ATA is not helpfull for someone 30"+ with my experiences. I think I am going to pick up a bear method its 33'' ATA which will be the shortest ATA bow I will have ever owned, has a 6 3/8'' BH I believe and with a 430 grain arrow and a WB not centershot I was getting 288 and with a 384 gr arrow it was pumping out 303 at 62# and 31'' DL. I know you have two bows now but this is a great bow and it shoots awesome!

As a long draw person, I don't like a bow shorter than 35" Ata and prefer one in the 37" range. Anything shorter and I feel like there is too extreme of a string angle. As for bh the only thing I can tell is shorter, I have more of a tendency to hit my arm and longer I don't. So for hunting cold weather with bulky clothes, I prefer the longer bh. I also like my bow in the 3.9-4.1 range on weight.

I guess I agree with them on all 3.

                I prefer nothing less than a 7" brace height.......but that's just me!
