    Archery lessons?

Has anyone on here ever taught archery classes on the side. I was thinking about doing this for kids and adults alike that are new to it. I'm curiouse to know if anyone else has attempted this and what results they had.

I have done it and I have several of my good friends grand kids that are learning now.. Very rewarding.
If you are in the Houston area look up "Lynda" on TBH.
Get certified. Level One or Two.

I'm a level one and coach archery for our 4-H club. I've wondered if there is a market for an instructor to charge for lessons.

I've gone so far as to get my USA Archery level 2 cert, but have not used it beyond helping out with kids night at the shop.

I'm curious what my time is worth for lessons as well (or if there is a market at all)...

Down here in Corpus we have quite a few coaches. All of them are certified. One is a pro tournament shooter, Casey Barrera. Robert Garcia has been teaching our kids for years and years. I guess that's why we send so many kids to state, nationals and the past couple of years, even the world championships. Most just volunteer though. I don't know what it would cost to get a lesson from one of them.

Check in with Mike "Javi" Cooper. He has coached everybody from pro shooters to hackers like me.

I got certified to teach 4-H and have taught it in camps for the last 5 years. got my NASP certification 5 years ago and have taught it in the local school for 4 years. Have had a school archery team for the last 4 years and shoot against other schools. I love it and the kids sure take to it.....Shoe

I give lessons, however I am not certified need to get it. I teach kids for free at the local shop. Had a guy come in this afternoon that bought a bow and wanted to learn so I gave him a hour class and charged him 40.00

I Have a level 1 cert and teach archery to girlscouts at the girlscout camps. VERY rewarding to see their faces when they get the hang of it. Have plenty of pics but due to Girlscout rules I cannot post.

I signed up for a class, and went and took it.

Watch this website, it is straight out of 1993, but there is a lot of good information.

The president of TSAA and a local lady taught the class I attended. It was a pretty fun class.

FYI - much change is afoot in USArchery - the primary archery instructor certification organization in the U.S.

Also, a list of certified archery instructors can be found here:

I am certified thru 4H to coach and have had a club for about 3 yrs. It is very rewarding to watch the youngins learn something new and get excited about hitting a target at 10 yrds. I have never charged ayone a dime to help them kids or adult.

a little perspective from someone who is a full time volunteer doing archery instruction (straight arrow archery learning center, Victoria, Texas) I do a lot of free lessons, sort of like try before you buy. But, if you don't charge something eventually folks will take advantage of your generosity. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times and many folks think they are entitled to things. It can be extremely rewarding to help kids learn to shoot and the learning curve in archery is pretty steep. Equipment is not the limiting item in archery. It is a place to shoot and someone to teach you how to use the equipment.
