Gruene, Tx.Places to stay and things to do.

Going down with my GIRLfriend next month for a concert at Gruene Hall. The mansion is all booked up and a little too pricey anyways. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good hotel and any must-sees? May hit Austin on the way back.....ideas??

Visit Dry Comal Creek Winery for some grape stopming, eat a The Gruene Door or Granzines, and get a german pretzel from Naegelins.

The wife and I have also stayed at the Gruene River Inn and it was pretty nice. Dittos on the Dry Comal Creek Winery. Walk the streets and shops in Gruene and you will score some points! Sit out in the beer garden at Gruene hall and people watch. We do and laugh our arses off. Be early to the concert or you will be way in back, but still not bad for a place that only holds 500. Mozie's is not a bad place to eat either.

Gruene River Inn is really nice, but again a little pricey. Could always go an float the river while you're in town. Hit up the winery and just take it easy. That's one of the coolest towns in Texas IMO, headed there this weekend to see Merle Haggard.

We are heading there Friday to see Merle Haggard. We are staying at the Gruene Apple Inn. I never stayed there but it had good reviews and it is pricey too.

Hit up all the shops in front of greune hall. All sorts of cool old shops everywhere. The winery is pretty cool as well. My favorite was the antique stores

x2 I know there are fancier places around but there's just something about the GristMill that I love (maybe the fact that it is more casual).

Just got back, stayed at the Hampton in on 46 which is about 10-15 from Gruene. Good free Breakfast!

Eat at Pats or the BBQ joint that starts with a G both are in the schilterbahn area. For dessert...http://naegelins.com/

Gruene River Inn if you are wanting to stay in Gruene. There are plenty of hotels in New Braunfels that aren't 10 min or less drive. The Gristmill is good but more of a tourist trap. Gruene River Grill is excellent and can usully get in fast. If you are just looking for a lunch snack stop by BoHo Bites and get some BBQ or Mozies. If you get there on a Friday before 7pm Gruene Hall has $1.75 longnecks.

Which is also a great way to run into some of your favorite musicians! Great people and even better place to visit. We will be up there the second weekend in July if anyone wants to join us
