In the last three nights of tracking hogs, I came across three snakes. Fun times!

Yep, they are movin. We also killed 3 yesterday evening while leak checking a pipeline gettin ready to go on hydro. 2 were over 6 ft and one was about 3 1/2. I asked what my hands did with them and they told me they took them home, fried them up and ate em. Buncha crazy pipeliners (bending engineers) lol

Haven't seen any yet this year but have been busy fishing and not spending much time in the country. Ya'll be careful...

Yea the one last night got me to jump. I didn't see him until he made a quick little rattle and I froze. He was only about 2 ft away on the next row of wheat.

Looks like that one on the far left was probably a pretty good sized snake.

I saw 2 rattlesnakes and a bullsnake the day before yesterday. They've been on the move here lately.I bet in the past week I've seen right around 15 snakes.

The one on the left looks to be an old snake! How long was he?

The one on the right wasn't a sand rattler was it? Not sure on the correct name, this is what I've always heard them called. The two I've killed and skins I've seen all had the shorter pointy rattles.

Younger rattlesnakes have the tapered rattles like the one on the right in any species. The rattles in the middle are probably about as big as they'd get before they started to break and look more like the ones on the left.

The snakes you're thinking of are probably Prairie Rattlesnakes or maybe the Western Massasauga.
