    Painting Plastic

Specifically plastic for motorbikes or mobility scooters. I want to take my Batmobile from Gloss Black to Dull Black or OD green but I've heard it won't last and the paint will peel/chip. After all, this is supposed to be a hunting machine!!! Any ideas? Camo dipping is out, I think, because of the cost....although camo would be my first choice!

I painted the fenders of my jeep with krylon. They have a plastic primer to use. I never had problems with peeling.

Ive done a set of dirtbike plastics, a full chinese 4 wheeler body, and a little tikes playset with krylon fusion. The stuff is GREAT. I sanded everything first to take the shine off the plastic and hit it with several coats. I clear coated the dirtbike plastics for easier cleanup. The 4 wheeler is matt OD green. You can flex the fenders all you want and the paint doesnt flake off.

How easy would it be to take off the plastics?

The plastics are really easy to remove.

If its not to heavy or to expensive it would be sweet if you had it bedlined with rhino or line-x! You can get it in a lot of different colors.

Scuff it. Then apply 2 coats (dry between) a rattle can of self etching paint. Walmart carries it in the automotive section. Then apply 3 coats of your chosen paint/color. Then apply at least two coats of clear coat (same place at Walmart). More coats of clear is better but each coat will make it more and more glossy.
The KEY is to make sure to follow the directions on the cans is primer, paint and clear you use. Let dry as the directions say, how far away to hold the can, etc. These will make the difference between a good looking lasting paint job and a bad one.
                    Hope this helps.

I recommend using an adhesion promoter made for plastic. Comes in an aerosol can and can be picked up at an auto body supply store. Clean and sand the plastic, spray on the promoter and then spray over it. I've used it before and it worked well.
