    Custom Bowie

Been seeing a lot of knife threads, and as a last minute Father's Day present, I am wanting a custom bowie. It is hard for this Texan to be in OK, and I want something that will remind me a little of TX that I can carry on hunts and pass down to the kids. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks.

Its not a Bowie, but this is the chopsknife I had Chops make for my wife for our anniversary. It has Prickly Pear handles with Mesquite bolsters.

A friend made this one for me.
The handle is Pierre David and the sheath is bobcat.

That is good looking. I have an old Axis horn that I wouldn't mind making into a handle for a knife.

Been looking at a Ron LeClair Buffalo Knife.

How nice and how much you want to spend... Best Bowie knives are Bagwell Bowies but quality has a price.

I know it's not custom, but for a Bowie the Case can't be beat. I have one that was my wife's grandfather's WW2 Army Air Force survival knife. They're about $130 on amazon.com.

No way in Hades I would take something like a Bagwell into the woods.

seems a bunch of folks think they are just for self defense,
but a hog will also show you much more respect after getting poked with a $2K knife.

                    especially one of those.....

Hey jack, if your going the get a BA knife you might as well use it. This forged blade will not fail on me! It was bought for me as a gift after ranger school when a deployment looked prominent.

That being said you need great accountability of your equipment to tote this thing around everywhere. But all the talk about how tuff hogs are, so why wouldn't you want high quality steel?

I think you hit the nail on the head with accountability. I don't think I'm that "accountable." And if I ever got one, I sure hope someone else pays for it. LOL.
