I think theses trucks have a problem with the plugs sticking. It is an ordeal to change them. I had a 2004 just like it but white and tan. At 100k miles I was going to have the plugs changed as routine maintenance and people were quoting me over $1k to do it! The truck wasn't missing so I said screw it. Ended up putting 165k miles on it before trading it in.

I have the same truck and just changed my plugs a few months ago at 70,000 miles. They are known for breaking off so I bought the removal tool before I started the job. I ended up getting them all out with no problem and didn't even need the tool. The problem is when you wait until higher miles to change them carbon builds up on the plug and the 2 piece plug breaks off when you try to remove them. If you buy it with 80,000 miles and go ahead and change them I doubt you will have any trouble removing them, I didn't. Other than that, I have not had one problem with mine. I've been thinking about selling mine and getting a diesel but can't make myself do it.

I drive an '06 Fx4 F-150. Bought it used at 100,000k miles. Had the plugs changed, at the time I thought the trans was slipping in OD, but it's a common problem with the plugs. 4 of the 8 broke, but no big deal with the tool to remove them. Otherwise it runs great with 135k on it now. Mileage sucks for me, average about 12 and I'm in a rural area. It does have a programmer in it though, and have never tried to run it without it. Very happy with it overall!
