    Is this a pulled hamstring?

I played 1 game of basketball yesterday with some kids at the gym. At the end of the game, they decided to play volleyball with the girls playing. I opted to go run a few laps on the track instead. After about 1 1/2 laps of jogging, I decided to try a few 100 yard sprints on the grass of the football field. The first sprint went pretty well. I walked back to the other end to catch my breath. The second sprint went even better and got a good quick run in, felt really good. I walked back to the other end to get ready for the next one. I started the third one and was building up a good head of steam when about half way down the field it felt like someone shot me in the back of my thigh. It was all I could do to keep from going face first into the grass.
I hobbled off the field to my truck. After a little while I could walk ok, but its still pretty sore. An area about the size of both fists is really sore. I've never had this happen before, and not sure what exactly I've done. Had to go to work today, and have been walking on it all day long. Does this sound like a pulled hamstring? And what do I do about it?

I don't know myself. I hurt the same area 6-7 years ago. I didn't do anything for it and it took a couple of weeks to heal. I think you hurt yous worse than mine. I would say to repeatedly ice it down, to help with inflammation. Maybe some pain pills, and don't stress it. But having to work is going to be tough. Hope it gets better quick.

Yessir. Did tht playing softball a couple years ago. Center of my left thigh/hamstring was strained. Felt like a sat on about 20 thumbtacks that were in a line then it hurt for about 4-6 weeks after. Could barely walk the next day bc of the tightness and pain!!

        Is this a pulled hamstring?

Yup that's a pull. I did that to my groin in HS. Give it some rest and ice it and stretch it out in a week or so.

Yep that's a grade 1 strain. Ice and rest. 2-4 weeks before your back 100%

That's what I was afraid of.......I really hate being hurt.( twisted my ankle 2 weeks ago while running the Spartan Race-just now getting around pretty good on it.) Guess I will take it easy for the next week or so. Argh!

Check in the mirror in about 48 hours and you should have a nice dark bruise right behind your knee--and the only fix for it is rest, rest, rest. Then in 4-6 weeks when the torn muscle has healed, start with some real gentle stretching, without bouncing. Keep up the stretching if you want to prevent another tear.
