    Chiggers

Who know the best treatment for chiggers?

    #2
Treatment as in you have already gotten into them?
If so, any antihistamine sp?. Calamine, benedryl or topical ointment. All the nail polish, bleach etc stuff you hear to suffocate them is myth. They are long gone by the time you start itching.

If you already have gotten in them...the only thing that will make them feel better is time. Just about any anti-itch oinment will help ease the pain though.

Chigger bites to me are 2X as bad as fire ant bites.

cut off infested area lol ive heard and tried it all best advise is not to scratch but its not possible. if you dab each spot with clear nail polish it helps you not to touch them.

I've always heard that you should cover the bites with clear nail polish.

I use Chiggerex Plus. You can buy it at Walmart.

Yep. Already got in them. I hate the little buggers. I don't mind other insect bites at all, even wasp sting aren't so bad. I must be allergic to the dang things they drive me nuts. I've been told different treatments-from fingernail polish to beach. Was just wondering what will kill the devils and start the healing quicker.

The best thing I have found is the following...

Meat Tenderizer (in powder form, you can find at the grocery store)

Cayenne Pepper (in powder form, also at the grocery store)

Tea Tree Oil (comes in a small glass bottle and is about $8 I think)

Get a small bowl, mix all the ingredients together: 2 parts meat tenderizer, 1 part cayenne, 1 part tea tree oil.

Then take that mixture and literally rub it into each bite. The meat tenderizer breaks the skin and allows the tea tree oil to get into the bite (tea tree oil is a natural healer) and the cayenne pepper acts as a cooling or numbing agent to the itch.

I was covered in chiggers after a spring turkey hunt a few years ago and I tried everything. This is the only thing that worked.

It will smell really strong and weird but do it 2x a day and you will be better in a few days. The tea tree oil will also help keep you from scaring. Hope it works for you!

See my post above. There is nothing to kill. Its just bites, they are not on you anymore.

scratch bite until it bleeds. Soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and place on bleeding soar. The instant sting will make you forget about the chigger bite. Repeat as necessary.

Clorox bleach applied with cotton ball on bite site worked when we were in East Texas, cheap too.

Shave one leg, and light the other on fire. Then stab them with an ice pick as they jump to safety. Works like a charm!
