    Hypothetical Question??

If you lived in the country on a road that seems to attract people dumping off stray dogs. You catch a stray dog harassing your chickens, call the law and they can't catch it. Then the same dog comes trotting down the road and scares your wife and kids into the house. Would you shoot said dog in the middle of the road after he is a mile from your house and in sight/hearing distance from multiple houses? OH and did I mention its a pit bull mix.

S.S.S. not sure I would do it a mile from my place, but he would definitely have a bounty on his head at that point.

Hypothetically speaking, a bow is quieter than a gun and rumored to be equally lethal. If one were to place said dog into a heavy black yard trash bag and dump said bag in a trash container behind a gas station, it would be a scene from CSI.

I don't own chickens but have a wife and daughter.

                  All hypothetically speaking, of course.

Shoot it and live with the knowledge that you did what you needed to do to protect your family.

He would have died when he was harassing the chickens, would have saved some taxpayers money on the fuel for the cop to drive out there.

Me personally I don't feel as threatened by a poodle or small dog as I would by a big dog. I guess the breed is not as important as the size..

How did the dog scare your wife and kids? And what did he harass then?

Not naming breeds or names but members of my family have killed quite a few dogs over the years that were either in the act of chasing livestock. It doesn't get published and the body is never found.
