    Diesel Question

I am new to owning a diesel, I just purchased a 2011 dodge crew cab 4x4. The truck has a little over 50,000 miles on it and I was able to get an extended bumper to bumper warranty on it till 100,000 miles. My question is will my warranty be affected if I put a programmer- tuner on the truck. I know didley squat about diesel performance so any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

A programmer will void the warranty . Have seen it happen alot of times.

Always best to check with the warranty agreement. Not a forum website about hunting.

You don't need a programmer, it has plenty of power just being stock.

It will probably void the warranty, but not for sure. Many dealers are good people who will honor the warranty if the tuner didn't cause the problem. I had all my injectors replaced under warranty after running a tuner, but the injectors were going bad in all the LB7 duramaxes. But some dealers will see that you have a tuner and immediately void the warranty. Also don't expect to get a new tranny because the first one blew up when you were running 1200 ft/lbs of torque through it.

Keep it stock until you hit 100k. Then delete the EGR and DPF and program it. It will save you money in the long run.

Yes it will. Leave it stock while you have warranty.

Not sure but i thought you could buy a programmer for a dodge that the factory could not tell had been installed you just had to put ack to factory settings before you take it to shop. Best advice don't do it

no sorry the new trucks have flash counters . they may not know what you flashed but they will know that it was falshed . as stated it has to be direct related couse of the tuner for them to refuse it as warranty, but you can talk to your dealer , i did and they said if it was not direct relation then they would still cover it .

you will never know till you take it in and they say yes or no . that is about it !

" tuner " is not named in the warranty at all but they do have some braud terms that i would guess it could fall under . ready your warranty and call them if you have questions

You have to buy the non traceable tuner. A few different companies have them.

We install lots of these and other diesel performance up grades at my shop. For the Dodge stuff I recommend The SMARTY. My hunting buddy did the smarty, exhaust, intake and gained 9 mpg. Leaves it on performance and has no problems. All customers have fairly significant gains. Towing or Not. The newer transmissions are pretty solid units stock.

A tuner technically voids the warranty. I deleted (cat and dpf haven't done the egr yet) and threw a mini maxx in mine as soon as I could. Better mileage and more power. As long as you don't drie it like a bat outta heck, you'll be fine. I've put 32k on my truck in 10 months with it tuned and no problems. If you put it on the track all the time an beat the crap out of it you're noun to have problems. Treat it good a it'll return the favor.

My opinion- keep it stock. If you need more truck, visit the Kenworth dealer.

Hurry and delete it and you wont need the warranty. The crap they put on them is what hurts them. And if you do add a tuner go with H&S. Smartys have a problem with throwing codes. The tuner itself will not and does not void the warranty. But, if they can say the problem was caused by the tuner then they can refuse to fix it.

If anyone on here that's against it has never looked at the intake or turbo of a truck that's been running a dpf/egr. You would be quick to delete as well. The carbon build up is ridiculous. It kills the engine. Not so much about having more power its about preserving what you have. A diesel is supposed to breath and when you plug the exhaust and then run exhaust gas back in the intake it puts a beating on them.

Warranty is your friend.....I would not take chance unless you just like to spend money to fix trucks.
