    generator guru's

Hello TBH brother's and sister's, I am interested in buying a generator to take with me to use with my pop up and I was wondering what I have to look for when purchasing a generator. My pop up is fit with 110volt receptacles, 12 volt water pump, an a/c, refrigerator, and 20 amp power convertor. so what kind of wattage would I need in a generator

I would think at least a 5,000 watt honda. Quiet, dependable, run all night on a tank of gas.

Figure up your total wattage, with everything on, and add 1,000 to be safe.

If your gonna buy one.....go with at least 5000 watts minimum.

Do you want to be able to run the a/c and other items at the same time? I use a honda eu2000i for my popup..I can run the a/c but not much else during the summer months. If I was to do it all over I would get the eu3000i honda. They are super quiet! You can do some upgrades to your a/c unit to help with energy draw on startup...

I know some on here like another model that is similar to the eu3000i but is a bit louder at a substantial price difference. So if you are not as concerned about noise then you could definitely go that route.

I have a Kipor IG6000H I need to get rid of. It has very low hours on it and ill make you a sweet deal if interested. It should be able to run just about anything on your trailer and its pretty quite.

To run the A/C you will need 3000 watts.

if the pop up has a 20 amp/120 volt cord on it to plug in then take 20 amp x 120 volts =2400 watts and that should e the size you need. If I could aford a 5000 watt thats what i would get so that i could run a few extra things at camp.

The Honda EU's are pricey but you will never regret the decision. The cheaper ones are LOUD and frequently unreliable. It feels wrong to pay $3500 for a generator that makes the same power as an $800 generator, but the first time you fire up the Honda and can talk while it sits at your feet and can use it without having your camping neighbors complaining, you will realize that it was money well spent.

I bought a Yamaha ef2000is 2000 Watt inverter/generator back in Feb to run my 18 ft camper...it's not enough to run the A/C but I knew that going into it. I wanted something that was fuel efficient & quiet which is why I bought an inverter/generator instead of just a plain generator. I'm actually going to buy a second one and parallel them together. One of the benefits to the Honda's & Yamaha's is they can be paralleled for double power when you need it but if you don't you can just carry one. JMO
