    Rockport Bound 6/11

A week from tomorrow, we'll head down to the coast for a weeks vacation. We rented Casa Azul, off Copano Bay and Salt Lake. We've stayed at this house a couple of times before, and have always stayed along this canal system. I'm really looking forward to wetting some lines and getting the new kayak salty (and slimey). Mostly, though, just looking forward to a good, long time away from work with my beautiful girls.

Anyone in that area have a recent fishing report? Sounds like most of the coast has been doing well with reds and trout the past week or so. I'm bringing top waters, soft plastics, popping corks - basically preparing for any and every type of fishing. Next week can't get here soon enough!

The last couple weeks everybody has been fishing anything that's protected from the wind for the most part everything else was blown out. The wind has really been brutal. But it looks like this week the winds are going to lie down so hopefully it will get back to normal. I was out on the laguna yesterday and it was slow for us. I threw just about everything I had.

I'm headed down on the 9th for a week. We'll be at my buddies house on Copano. All of the reports I have been getting are positive. Can't wait!

Free line cut menhayden for the reds. We actually caught a couple trout on it too.

We usually catch lots of them off the dock, so I'll cut them up and give them a try.

I've been hearing about the brutal winds down there lately, so hopefully they come down some next week.

              This week is so sloooooooow.

I swung by Academy to look for new polarized sunglasses on Wednesday. I've worn some Strike Kings for a few years now and they're just uncomfortable. I read up on all the opinions on which are the best, and saw all the recommendations toward Costas and Jims and such. So, naturally, I ended up with a $5 pair of Berkeleys.

Someday I'll man up and buy some good ones. Someday...

We're here until Tuesday, but the main part of our fishing is done. Dad and I had a great time! Here's the link to my write-up on TKF:
