Thompson keeps all of his silver and gold medal rams and goats in a seperate pasture, if your bowhunting, you'll want to hunt this pasture! Otherwise, you may spend the whole trip only seeing a fraction of what is available due to the massive amounts of cedar cover. His place is mountainous, meaning you'll either be walking up hill or down hill, very little in between, so bring some good hiking boots. Spot and stalk in the trophy pasture has been the most fun at his place for me! Good luck!!

What do you mean a seperate Pasture? Do you have to specifically ask to hunt this pasture? I want to go this summer and will be only bow hunting.

I went two years ago with a group of friends and at the time, he had a trophy pasture just down the hill from his cabin. Like many game ranches, he had rams and goats with different colored ear tags that determined their value. From what I remember, he kept most of his silver and gold medal animals in that pasture along with some other lower priced animals. Yes, you have to request to hunt this pasture. I originally signed up to do the 190 hunt and then upgraded after seeing the caliber of animals that were in the trophy pasture. There were some rifle hunters there, but me and my group were bowhunting. He's got blinds to hunt from or you can spot and stalk. We chose to do a spot and stalk. Out of the four hunters in my group, we all harvested good animals. Now keep in mind, these are sheep! So the chances of success, in my opinion, are really good! This would be a great trip for someone lookin to hone their bowhunting skills! Give Thompson a call, he'll fill you in on what kind of operation he's running. It may have changed since I was there, but for the price, I'd say it was well worth it! Good luck!
