To infrared or not that is the question

I'm planning on planting the seed in my boys mind that dad needs a new grill my only question is do I tell them to get me a IR or just regular grill I've read all the consumer reports on grills but there's no replacing the green sheet gurus help a brotha out

I wouldn't. A few of my buddies have and have had troubles. Get a good Weber and you'll never get another.

Cant go wrong with either one if they're quality grills IMHO. I've had food off both types and it all made a ****

I have an IR side burner. I really don't use it that much. Think mine is a weber also and won't do that again... wife bought it.

For me the #1 things for a gas grill is solid stainless steel grates - porcelain grates are a pain. A wood chip box is nice too.

Have a much cheaper gas grill at the lake that I picked up from Lowes on sale - charbroil I think. Half of it is IR and half normal. It rocks much better than my more expensive home grill.
