West 7th is a good area with a lot of places to eat and to see. I recently have started going to the wood shed off of university. Its a neat place that sits right on the trinity river/trails. they have a lot of live music and pretty good food.
We're taking the kids to the Cats game Sunday night. If you go that night shoot me a pm. The Cats games are fun and a lot cheaper than the Rangers.
Cooper's BBQ is next door to Billy Bob's in the Stockyards.
Joe T's is good but cash only. The margaritas are worth it. Just don't exhale near an open flame. I once drank so many of them two meals at McDonald's, a hot shower, and listening to a Loretta Lynn album didn't cure the hangover.
H3 is fun and the food generally good but the smoked sirloin is overrated.
Several museums in Fort Worth are worth going to as are the Botanical Gardens and the zoo.
Cabelas is north of town and Bass Pro is in Grapevine. Always good destinations. The Bass Pro is next to the big mall in Grapevine.

This. I would also add that Jon Reep. (stand up comedian, "is that a Hemy") will be at Hyenas comedy club this weekend but I'm not sure about Sunday. Have fun.
Thanks guys, lots of good ideas. I'm going to Cats game Sunday, and Stockyards Monday. Lived a couple hours away most my life, and been all over Dallas and Arlington, but never been to Stock Yards. Looking forward to it.
Get there early enough on Sunday and go to Fred's for brunch. Quail and eggs...you can thank me later
I'm partial to the West 7th area.... so many venues with great music and lots of restaurants to eat at.
Stockyards is always a great time as well. I like Dale's recommendation for that "Eat at H3, walk over to the Maverick and have a beer while your wife shops, then walk over to the love shack/white elephant beer garden and listen to some live tunes. All stockyards."
Stockyards, West 7th, Downtown, and Magnolia Ave are all great options that give you something a little different but all with great restaurants and bars. I love this city.
