    another tractor thread :)

been looking around at used tractors recently...in the market for one...here is my situation...11 acres...small hobby farm...looking for something for general use, bush hog pastures, move miscellaneous things around, spread dirt, move some hay around to a few cows i will be putting in the pastures, etc...im assuming a smaller tractor will suffice...probably dont even need one, but i want one

not for sure what size i will need...this would be my first tractor...im assuming something in the 25-30hp range would be enough????

came across an 02/03ish massey ferguson 1428v with FEL, box blade, and 16 foot trailer for $10...been garage kept, well maintained, no issues...seem some others around town for sale as well...some junk but anything that appears decent is 8k plus...

    any suggestions/recommendations?

many round bales weigh between 1200-1500 #s. My 38 HP Kubota won't lift them with the FEL.

Most of the companies are running special financing on tractors. I just picked up a new m6040 kubota and financed for 0% for 60.

We run two Massey ferguson s one 150 horse and one 200 horse, but if they are any indicator the Massey you were looking at seems to be a good buy. They are both about a year old.

Sounds like you found a package deal for your place. I have a ford 9N to just do minor things with and a John Deere for the bigger things. If it will work for you get it.

Depending on how much of that 11 acres you are going to be bush hogging, a small 28-30 horse tractor could take you 2-3 days to bush hog it all. I am in the same situation on my property and after using my dads 28 HP Kubota I am looking for something more in the 40 horse range just so I can get a bigger bush hog.

While some dealers offer 0% financing, this is in leu of lower cash price. In other words, that perk is not free.

I am getting ready to upgrade to a larger tractor. Have a Massey 1260 (34 hp compact) with FEL and bushhog. PM me if interested.

Love my MF35. Cranks effortlessly and runs like a top!

Better research that, I'm betting it will wheelie like a clown car with a roll on the back
