CHL- Background Check

I understand that the folks in Austin are drowding with all the CHL apps they are getting. BUT, what takes so long to complete the background check portion. All they have to do is punch your SS# into the system and in 30 seconds they have a background report. My status has been on "Waiting for Background Check to return" for over a week. Guess it just takes em a while to process it all.... not sure.

Anyrate, I have no concerns or blips on my background that would cause me not to pass the background check, but it makes you wonder what all they could be looking at or checking on.......... even though there is nothing to worry about, it still makes me worry just because it takes them so long.

Call the number on the texas.gov website. They usually are already complete and forget to update the system, they will check the status of it while you are on the phone and tell you were you are at in the process. Hope this helps.

Not only SS is run but DL thru state and Federal. If there is any blimps sometimes they contact locals. That what I was told.

take a look at the CHL live thread on the other side of the ranch.
mine sat in "under review" according to the website for 19 days.
changed to manufacture pending yesterday and shows mailed today.

There are a LOT of chl applicants processed by a few govt workers. It's going to take some time. If you think that's bad try getting a form 4 through (NFA transfer).

Mine took 4 months back in 09.
The FBI, Ft Bend, Victoria counties came back in 2 weeks but Harris county took 3 1/2 month to send back to DPS.
I ended up calling Govenor Perry's office to find out what was the deal.
I got it in the mail 3 days later.
