IMO...I think the long arm pose makes the fish look like what it is in person. When you hold it close to your body it really doesnt do the fish justice. I have been fortunate enough to catch a decent amount of trophy trout and i have taking pictures both ways. The long arm pose really shows off what this fish looks like when you put your hands on them for the first time. Congrats to the angler on a great fish

I've had 3 over 30 in my time....literally dozens 27 - 29.
To be honest...in the State of Texas, inshore trophy trout of this size are more impressive to me than any whitetail now..period.
We can't control these animals with food, forage and or confinement. If any Outdoorsman & or Outdoorswoman can hook up with one of these animals.....my 20 year Coast Guard ball cap is tipped to them with a big smile on my face.
I fish 1st....hunt 2nd. I know how special it is to pull a big girl out of the brine.......it's a quest so many have pursued an entire lifetime...and never managed to do it!
Luck has a lot to do with it. You can't eyeball, game cam, feed and study any of these animals........it's a game, that many never even pursue because the odds are so high. Luck is with many on the 1st fish...those with multiple....not so much.
A list that is even tougher to pull off......Snook over 30 in Texas waters...I have two....a photo more rarer than yellow mouthed spotted sow bellies.
It's all about location and time engaged on the water during these prime times. As it is with the rut in South Texas......it's an "old-school" technique that requires time spent for time earned.
Sure wished deer hunting was still this way.
Stew1...who previously posted here prior to the 2006 server implosion had the largest trout I've ever seen. It went 34 inches....Flour Bluff...Upper Laguna Madre fish. Folks brag about the big girls in Baffin Bay....record was set there but....I had a pair caught in the Upper Laguna as well as Stew's fat girl. It's one of those special places that hold them in huge numbers, from a relative as well as numbers caught through the years but, they don't fall for many tricks via rod & reel. Those from the Coastal Bend know what I'm talking about....some of the mounted stringer's in some of the ICW restaurants from year's gone by have seen these fish. The last few major freezes along the Laguna in recent times...many of the fish kills went 35 - 37 inches! The are there.....always but as it is with a low fence, free range 210+ whitetail.........dialing that in takes dedication and....lots of luck!

No no no everybody needs to keep running down to baffin and the cut to catch trophy trout! Why only burn a couple of gallons of gas to catch some some fattys when you can have a hour long boat ride and burn 30?!
There is some awesome fishing in the boat hole and laguna shores area.I know cliff webb had and his clients have caught a 32 and a 30 and a half whithin 3 miles of the causeway while wading this year.
