    Spouses

Ugh! Probably wrong, but I just have to VENT. Number one, I gamble, not much at casinos but with stocks/bonds. I've made a decent amount of money over the years, basically because I just don't tell the wife at times. Now, I will say this is from my 401/457 plan from my previous work. One year I made almost $70,000 playing the stock market, so I don't think that is too bad.

Well, January 2012 I gambled a bit with my TD Ameritrade and bought over 36,000 shares of American Airlines at .58 cents a share. January of this year, she started going crazy, telling me that her brother, who has no clue but "knows people," told her that I had better sell it all because it was merging and going down to .13 cents a share and I was going to lose my butt. Well, after a week of listening to her go on and on and on and on and on and on, I finally got tired of listening to her and sold most of it. I know I shouldn't have, but trying to keep peace in the household.

Well today, I'm checking what I have left and of course, it is not up to $6.22 a share. Hmm, my math puts that, if I still had what I had bought, at over $225,000.00 dollars. Basically, about a $20,000.00 investment would have turned into that.

And of course today she is throwing a hissy fit because I should have bought some more at a higher rate.

    Did I say ugh yet.....

Maybe she will take her "Brothers peeps" advice with a grain of salt next time.

In the words of Kevin Costner to Annette Benning in "Open Range".....

"How's this gonna work if you don't mind me?"

Peace in the house costs a lot of money sometimes. She said that to cover her her self.

More importantly what did you learn?

What about giving her $1000 & telling her to invest it how she wants? Kind of "put your money where your mouth is" advise for her?

If you would have stayed in guaranteed it would have gone down to .10cents. GUARANTEED!!! At least that is my experience...lol

True but so tired of hearing her gripe because she could have saved .75 cents if she would have used a coupon on this or that.

Mama probably would have been happier with that wad of bread.

I hate that you missed out on the opportunity to make extra, but on the other hand I'm glad you didn't loose anything either.

You are entitled to a "ugh!" or three!
