      Had a bud work there for 11 years. Started right out of High School. He was told a year or so ago he would have to pick a new job (none that he wanted) because they wanted a college educated man to have his job that he had worked up to. I don't think they were going to cut his pay but give him a lesser job. He found a new company to work for

        What company does he work for now?? I'm trying to find a welding job I'm welding now just want to change companies I do stick structural and tig pipe stainless duplex and carbon steel

                      I work for Transocean, but not to familiar with the hiring process on the maintenance side. I'm in drilling. I can tell you this. Welding on an offshore rig ain't as glamerous as on let's say pipe line or refinery jobs. You don't have any helpers, and your job is not limited to welding. Your also a roustabout, mechanic, sub sea tech, and some times a roughneck. And if it's for Transocean you will earn a degree in policy and procedure, word document, power point, and more policy and procedure.
