Good for you. Glad to hear there are still people that are willing to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Nice Job!

My dad had a convenience store / bait shop years ago. Gas was a lot lower then but he only made a few cents per gallon. You make your money on other goods, but if you don't match the other idiots selling gas cheap all around you, people stop where the gas is cheaper. I don't know what the (retail) profit margin on gas is now, but I bet it is a lot lower than most people think.

And yes, with such an obvios mistake, I would have said something....even though it would have been hard

That does sound awfully low. They probably make most of their money off the convenience store side of the businesss and selling gas just gets them in the door.
That's exactly what my uncle got at his station as well. The 1-2 cents is profit, after all bills paid. Now he also ran a full service island that was 10 cents more per gallon, those pumps satyed busier then the self serve. It was the only one in town and might have been the last since he has gotten rid of the pumps since he said without the convienence store part of it he couldn't stay profitable.

But to answer your question, I would not be a part of it.
Not to mention that you normally sell only a few hundred gallons of premium per day and the average sale is about $50 per tankful. Then all the sudden everyone is buying premium only and their total sales are just $5.25 per tank. You know a lot of peoples tanks were half full when they pulled in, so they only bought $2.00-$3.00 of premium!
If my unleaded gas sales went to nothing and my premuim sales sky rocked, would have known to figure out why if I was running the station.

Yall have to remember though these clerks only make like 6 bucks a hour. How much attenion would you pay making 6 bucks an hour. Needless to say no matter how much your making you should still do your job. If you dont like the pay dont take the job. But at 6 bucks an hour you can only expect so much from someone.

The only transactions the attendant would have noticed the price on, are the cash or cc transactions that came inside. Most people pay at the pump these days, and you would have to pull your journal to see the sale amounts on those. Most people pay at the pump these days, so I can see it going on for a little bit. I would have noticed before long though. There are a lot of honest people out there, I can't hardly believe that not one person made some sort of comment.
