Onions! To stomp or not stomp the tops?

Okay, so like the title says.... stomp or not stomp? When to harvest?

I have grown onions almost all my life, but we always grew them for green onions. We NEVER let them go to maturity (my grandad would kill some green onions lol).

What about onions that begin to bloom?

    Educate me green screen!

Pull the ones that are bolting and use them ASAP. The others, wait til they start to fall over then fold all of them over and begin the drying process.

X2...an easy way to store them is to use knee high hose, drop an onion in and tie a knot above it then drop in another and tie a knot above it, continue until hose is full then hang it on a nail in the garage. When you want an onion just cut below the knot that is above the onion and the bottom onion will fall out.
