Do you prefer flat or serrated edge for your EDC knife? I go back and forth mainly due to the maintenance sharpening pains the serrated edge brings. My Spyderco endura is flat but am thinking of the 50 flat/50 serrated Spyderco Delica. Thoughts pros and cons?

Suffered thru this same decision process not long ago. I prefer the 50/50 but settled on flat primarily because Emerson Wave Opening system is only available in flat.
I like 50/50 serrated for heavy duty work (thick tough material, light sawing etc), & emergency cutting (binding, seat belts etc) where time is of the essence. A serrated blade increases the cutting surface of a knife by 33%.
I have learned to make do. Its a amazing what well maintained, razor sharp flat edge will cut through with little pressure/force applied.
I like the VG-10 steel that Spyderco is using. Its holds an edge well, but take an edge with almost no effort. A dozen or so swipes on a fine stone and I can shave again with it.

I prefer the 50/50 and definitely like the Endura and the Delica both. The flat blade obviously has the advantage of being the "really sharp" one, as long as you maintain it. The serrated blade is more for the "cut through this rope quickly" moments in my mind. Yes, they are a pain to sharpen, but then again, you (hopefully) aren't shaving with the serrated part.
