    Livewell/oxygen system question

My boat has an oxygen system but I'm new to using it and I've got some questions. I had some live shrimp left after a day of fishing with the kids and wanted to keep them alive overnight so they could use them the following day. I left the oxygen system on (on the lowest setting) all night but the shrimp died.

What setting do I need to use to keep shrimp (and soon croakers)alive over night? Is there something else I need to do to keep them alive- like leave an aerator running too or treat the water??

Hoping some fishing gurus can share some wisdom

you need fresh water being pumped, water can't get too warm. you need to keep your pump and aerator going at same time. I never leave my bait in th boat over night always transfer them into out net cages under our dock keeps them fresh and lively.

My understanding was that pumping pure oxygen (from a bottle) into the livewell would allow for live bait to be kept over night. It was a pretty cool night so I don't think it was the water temp.

Fresh water before you go to bed and get you a bottle of Croaker Keeper at Academy and put it in the water and you should be fine with the cooler temps.

even with pumping O2 into the water, once the water is "full" of Ammonia from the excrement of whatever is in the water it can no longer hold the O2 and everything will die. You will need fresh water every few hours or you are fighting a losing battle
