Need advice on dealing with an abusive step dad

I'm not a rich man and I'm not a lawyer but I can't watch my kids go through anymore.my ex is retarded and has let him come back after moving out secretly while he was out of town. if you've dealt with this and know of a means in which to legally take care of an issue like this I would appreciate your advice

Get the kids out of that situation , you have some control over that . If ex wants out , she know how to take care of herself !

I gave my own beat down when I was in that situation long ago. Yes, i did go to jail for it as well but it was worth every dime to me.

I've never been in a situation like that before but I'm sure I would handle it the same way.

This is bad advice these days as all it will do is further restrict your access to the kids and the sway you will have with the court.

Best advice: get a good lawyer and follow their advice.

If he is abusive there should already be multiple police reports. Those reports should be printed out and forwarded to an attorney of your choice to assist you in getting custody. They should also be forwarded to CPS. If there aren't any police reports, an adult somewhere needs to be slapped.

Call the police and get a lawyer....the only solution to this problem...

It wasnt advise. Just stated how i handled my situation and other than some cash and time spent in the cell it didnt do a thing to me. Now im not giving advise and you handle things how you wish but when my then 4 yr old boy told me that that man whip him so bad that blood was brought to his legs and back i wasnt waiting for no friggen lawyer before i beat his arse.
aND FURTHER MORE, there is not a jury anywhere in the state of Texas ( except maybe Austin) that would have denied me my son for protecting him Texas style.

You have a legal right to get them out of harms way. If your ex doesn't remove them from harms way then you have that right to remove them,if you can prove it. If you do get them out then you need to call a lawyer and let them know what/why you are doing with the kids as well a contact CPS.
