From reading this thread I now undestand that the media is the most powerful force in America. Maybe we should start talking about restrictions on the first amendment, then they would have more empathy for us that don't want them on the second.

That is a ballsy, antagonistic statement... but true.

We can 8!7ch All we what about the sensationalist and biased media... but there's a difference between wanting people to have some sense about what they write, and FORCING them to write what YOU think is right.

Also, most of the points about the media in this thread have been how it shapes the opinions of those not immersed in our society. But make no mistake about it, information is power. Tell a lie enough times and it is accepted as truth. This philosophical gem from Hitler is a cornerstone of mass opinion on both sides of the partisan isle.
