    Where to fish Port A?

Going to Port A (Mustang Island) for the weekend with my wife's family. The plan is for the girls to play on the beach and the boys go fishing. I'm not a big fishermen, so I have no clue what to fish for and where. Any ideas?

Aransas Pass is always good, or go to the jetty. The jetty might be best for you since the girls could play on the beach while the boys fish.

Are you staying at the state park? if so I love fishing in the surf for whiteing. Just need a hook with a small weight and some cut bait. You can catch them all day long and there is no size or catch limit on them and they are great to eat.

Try Packery channel jetties. Dead shrimp on a bottom rig usually works well on lots of different fish. There are redfish and drum around that could really stretch your line. There are piers also. Try Caldwell or Charlie's Pasture. Most people fishing there are eager to help newcomers. If you find clear water, gold spoons and soft plastics might surprise you.

JP Luby Beach at the Packery Channel jetties. No brainer. This is the biggest, cleanest beach in the area and the jetties are right there. You will love it.

If you are staying in the state park, fish that north fish pass jetty. Can be very good at times. There are some good guts just to the south of it as well.

We're staying in a condo on the island. I appreciate the info! It looks like great weather to fish. There is also the Texas Sandfest going on.

Well no luck so far. Fished the jetties for 4 hours. Fed the fish and caught a buzz. Not too bad of a trip so far.
