    Another UTV Comparison

I have read several threads about UTV's in this forum and we appear to have most folks siding with Polaris Ranger. I have been looking and testing for the past several months at, Polaris Rangers, Yamaha's, JD's, Honda, Kawasaki and Massimo. For hunting, and discounting speed and looks, for 99 per cent of what I need and what I see others do, the Mule seems the best bang for the buck.

They are ugly, rough riding and can only haul 500 lbs and tow 1100. That is 99 per cent of what I need. All that said to ask if anyone has long term experience with the Mule 610 XC

    Thanks

I like my 4010 trans mule..it's slow..28mph max, but built to work!

I have never owned one but a friend of mine and I took our wives out to ride one day and he was able to follow me just about everywhere I went at Hidden Falls in Marble Falls. He was driving a Mule (2 seater) and I was on my Polaris 700 4 Wheeler. There were some limits, but like I said, he was able to follow me on most trails.

The mule will get the job done, I went with the Polaris because of the ride !

if you went with Polaris for the ride then you missed the boat, can-am...................."the ride says it all"!

seriously I've wrenched on most of them and I can have a rotax v-twin out of the machine, cases split and the crank and rods tore down in an hour. you simply can't mess with the rotax motor platform, not that you'd ever have to under normal riding conditions.

Not really.. The very 1st criteria I had was only met by the mule & ranger. I wanted something with the bench seat..

OK not knocking any name/big box brand. For $8700 you can get a NEW full 800cc, 2/3500lb winches, confortable bucket adjustable seats, roof and electric dump bed. Check out ODES.com and or Killermotorsports.com (Ft.Worth). I have the 800cc Dominator and honestly think it's the best money I've spent regarding any UTV I've owned. Best of luck in your search and most of all get what you want for your money.

they are nice machines. they have always made a tough/quality machine and now with the updated look they will be sure to steal some market share from the others.

we once trailed one in an alcohol induced 2am ride on the loop @ soggy bottom. the "loop" is a decent ride and can be brutal under a lot of water as it was that night. halfway through the ride it blew a bead but still managed to make it back to camp. trey didn't miss one hole on the way back, jd products got my respect that day. btw this was an older machine that didn't have a sealed belt box, still don't know how that thing made it.

Look up steel horses in Lufkin Texas. They sell Land master UTV's with bench seat and price is comparable for what you are looking for. Looks like they have a Subaru engine in them. I like you did the research 3 years ago and could not bring myself to pay 12-15k for a new ranger. I found a bush hog utv that was full size, has a 650 Honda engine, with a bench seat in 4x4 for 4900.00 new. I love that thing but unfortunately the big names ran them out of the utv market or I would own 2 now.

these are sweet engines.....had the 900 in my Spyder...it's the rest of the Spyder that had issues....but it was a blast when it ran right!
The 4010 Trans mule is convertible...6 folks and a bed, or 3 and a larger bed.....this is why I chose it..had an old 610..had to beat it then....i can stop and exit either side..easy as you please...

I have a 2006 610. Not the fastest, smoothest, or the biggest but it always starts and gets the job done. It's perfect for a smaller place and price was less than most 4 wheelers when I bought mine. I put a jeep backseat in the bed for the kids.
