    Shipping Help

I work for a GC in Belton and we are needing to ship a 16 fire extinguishers to two hotels we built. We need 8 extinguishers sent to Carrizo Springs and 8 sent to Kennedy by tomorrow. You would think no big deal UPS or Fedex, but I have tried both and since they are considered Hazardous Material, we would have to take a training course on how to properly label haz mat boxes. We don't have time for that. Has any one had experience with this or can anyone offer solutions that I am not seeing?

They are definitely hazardous. There's a bunch to shipping them, the place I work at ships them all the time and anyone that ships hazmat must be certified. There's probably a business or 2 that can ship them on your behalf. Ill ask around.

I believe Fed ex may make you have training but UPS will ship if labeled properly. There is an 800 number for UPS that handles haz mat. Call them and if it is possible they can help you get them labeled correctly.

Maybe a hot shot company like Ace Transport or Lone Star Overnight?

No, I asked our shipping manager, and he is not aware of any business that ships haz-mat. You might just have to have someone buy them on-site if that is an option at all.

We normally ship directly from manufacturer to job site, but for some reason they are in our office now. I am learning there is a lot to shipping fire extinguishers. Thanks for your help!
