We kinda do, we have a 50 gallon plastic trash can lid that is upside down under a cover, keep it topped off with food so that it is free choice for the dogs to eat.

I've had the gravity type before. But there is no regulating the food for the dog(s). And some breeds/dogs tend to over eat when using one. I recently bought a "Lamco pet feeder", the 25lbs model from "Buck Stop" (a sight sponsor). You can program up to 6 feedings a day and a variable rate of feed too. It has "The Timer" programer in it. I don't use it all the time, just when I am out of town for a few days. It is very consistent, and didn't take Pickles (my lab) 5 minutes to figure out where dinners was or when it was served .

We used the gravity feeder if we stay away from home overnight. Worked for me!

How do you teach your dog not to stuff itself silly? I can just imagine our Schnauzer sitting there eating and eating until she split open. If we do not control her eating and give her small portions she want stop.

Our dogs are not house dogs or yard dogs. They do not get bored, we are always outside doing something so they hang out with us, also they are constantly running around our property so they aren't bored. If they were bored they probably would eat till they popped.

We use one for our four dogs have since they were pups and never had a problem with them stuffing there selves. Guess we just got lucky. When the dogs were pups the coons would come on the porch and eat all the food but now that the dogs are grown they eat the coons.

What do you think your dogs do, while you are at class all day?
