My front bumper/grill guard is made from channel iron. Good heavy duty. But I drive a 94' GMC 3/4 ton. It's heavy heavy

Its either channel or 3" drill stem.

Don't get the bumper much stronger than the frame. If you get a good whack and the bumper don't give then the frame will.
