I'm sure the advertising agency knucklehead who came up with that just thought it was funny, not realizing that the "Reconquista" movement is taken very seriously by people on both sides of the illegal immigration debate. Absolute quickly realized that they had stepped in it big time and they've apologized - twice now - but I'm not sure it's doing any good.

I just re-confirms my belief that the illegal invasion, while not on the minds of the average guy standing in front of Home Depot looking for $10/hour laborer work, is part of a much bigger political picture trying to "reclaim" what they believe was "stolen" from Mexico by Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.

I posted about this two days ago and it was taken down.
Stupid move by the ad agency, but they were only playing to attitudes in Mexico. Really makes me mad because the ad it is built on ignorance, at least in terms of the Republic's relationship to Mexico. Texas wasn't stolen, it was a successful revolution carried out by Mexican citizens both Caucasian and Hispanic in opposition to a tyrant. Groups such as La Raza ignore that fact and frame it in the light of Hispanic Pride and "White" treachery.
Did you see the quote by the representative from the Mexican Consulate in San Diego? He was being confronted by a group from the San Diego Minute Men. It appeared that be wanted to taunt them so he walked up to the camera man and stated...
"This has been ...and will be Mexico AGAIN."
That was either very accidental or very intentional, either way Americans deserve an apology since it came from a Mexican employee standing on American soil.
Look it up on YouTube. I wasn't able to find any reports from major network affiliates only Minute Men and conservative websites.
Both of these events are just current illustrations of the general attitude towards our country from Mexico. They can say and do whatever they want because we have become over dependent on cheap foreign labor just like we have become over dependent on foreign oil. Heck, our public healthcare system due to policy has been turned into an immigration system that supports continued unregistered immigration AND settlement.Last edited by Bobcat; 04-08-2008, 11:56 AM.

Mexico never really formally recognized Texas as independant.
In fact... they claimed their border was the Nueces...
That was all part of the Mexican-American war.
For those people saying that illegal immigration is to blame for the hispanic populations...
Where have you been? They have always been here...
Heh...
I think americans in general are just starting to push back a little bit because until 20 years ago... no one north of the red river had ever seen a Tortilla.
