Had an invite to go chase some turkeys this past Saturday.
Well.....You know how Turkey hunting goes........Exactly......No One Knows.......Tricky little punks...
We went out Friday afternoon for about 3 hours and didn't see nor hear the first sign of critters. ..... Figures...........
But...
Saturday morning came with a whole new ballgame. I was with a group of 2 shooters and one caller, (Ronnie & Noel from Seguin). I was lucky enough to get these two jokers. One at about 8:00a.m, which was in a group of two that were called from over 400 yrds away. It was awesome, I got to see Noel call these birds from across a field. Right in to the decoy.....BAM! dirt nap....... After the first one was down, we headed back in to drop my bird off. I was pumped. It was PERFECT. We were taking pictures and we heard two more strike up back behind camp....I put the bird in the cooler and off we went... We got set up down by the creek and within 3 min. the birds came into view.... and yes once again....TEXT BOOK... it was the coolest thing ever... Right on into the decoy....BAM! Two birds in less than an hour....7 1/2" Beard on the first, and 4" Beard on the second... Cut it all up for jerky tonight....Can't Wait!!!
