I figured I would start a new topic it would more Likely be seen.

Me and the wife where talkin about Boston. And decided to go give blood tomorrow. They are goin to be in great need of it. Thought I should pass this along and encourage all to do the same.

Gave last weekend...good habbit to get into...it helps others is the main reason. For those who need another its a free disease check lol..they also give you cholestorol results. In all seriousness you cant live without it and people need it everyday somewhere. I gave 2units rbcs this time

Many of the marathon runners have stepped up and given/donated blood at the local hospitals .

It's important to donate and help your local blood banks out as many are facing all time lows

Been a gold member in H town for around 10 years. Sadly with the tripple by-pass last October I am on blood thinner and can't give again till I come off it.Have actually be a blood donor for the past 43 years.

Ok I know this might sound stupid but since I've never given blood how do I go about it. Do I just go to my local hospital and say I wanna give blood? Hell I dont even know what blood type I am.

Google your area for the local Blood bank, Blood Donor Center. Then go. You can call your local hospital and ask them where the center is as well. They will tell you your blood type when you go. Be sure to be hydrated and hav eaten something as sometimes you can get lightheaded if you haven eaten. They will give you juice and crackers and maybe even a sticker!!!!!!

I use to give blood for years. They have a blood drive at work, and I gave 4 times a year. It got to where the people with Carter Blood Care could not hit my veins, even the supervisors with the most experience. The last 4 or 5 times they would try to hit a vein in both arms. I finally quit donating blood, my veins are just too deep and they can't ever find them. If you can donate, please do.

I wish I could I am O negative and its really easy to hit a vein! When I was diagnosed with Hashimotos they told me I couldn't donate anymore

I've been talking about getting the carter bus back out to my office. I will make that call tomorrow.

Give quarterly at the round rock donation site...easy and fast, in and out in 30 mins.

I'd go in a heartbeat but they won't take mine due to some hepatitis-C antibodies lurking around in me.
