    Take a look here: http://www.grit.com/Wildlife/Turtle-...-Your-Own.aspx

People always think turtles are harming there fish population but this is generally not true. They usually eat vegetation and detritus from the bottom of the pond, not healthy fish.

LOL, pig that wasn't meant for you, sorry. I was suggesting a 22 to the OP.

Shoot in a different direction maybe?
The higher you get above the water, the less chance of it skipping. Same concept as skipping stones. Near water's edge, it's easy. From top of dam, not so much.

            How far away is neighbor?
Also. use hollow points. They'll usually deform quite a bit once the hit water and slow down quicker if they do skip.

Turtles are more interested in picking off baby ducks swimming than fish...

It amazes me how turtles can return to a tank and repopulate after the drought has drained a tank to a dirt pit. They really got a nose for water.

                .22

We have an 11acre pond we fish and turtles will clean all the meat off the bone of a full stringer of fish in less than half hour

One of my favorite things to do is pop off turtles' heads with a .22. Although...... .222 or .223 is pretty fun too when they are on the bank A good body shot will make a turtle disappear
