    Corsicana, Tx setup question.

I went scouting a friends ranch outside of Dew, TX. It is 640 acres of pasture land surrounded by thick wood borders and creeks. I setup two bowstands on the creeks where the deer are crossing. My question is where to setup the gun hunters. There are no feeders or stands and the gun hunters will be hunting out of popups or 'hides'.

Should they watch the pastures or cover the roads in the wooded sections. Let me know what else would help. This is a mens fellowship hunt for our church and I would like to help them take their first deer.

    Thanks

Corn the roads in the thickets that are travel areas to the pastures.

I'm with JMH. Corn the roads. Also, if you can locate any staging areas you could corn them too.

            Update

Here are a couple of game camera pics from the ranch. It was a blast and we saw over 30+ deer and 1 40+ lbs bob cat.

Nope, we had tons of does at 15 yards, but the big boys traveled farther out. Now that we have some pattern info we will be planting food plots and setting up for next year.

Might get another hunt in before the end of the year though...

That is a very good buck for Dew. If you go east you can get into some pockets of larger deer but the majority are not as big as the one in your picture. I see some bucks like that around Fairfield and North, toward the river, but I'd say you found one of those pockets with above average bucks.

What do you guys figure the deer will score?

He is the smallest buck we saw, the others were seen in person and not on camera...
