    Tire question

My truck is 2wd, and I have run my BFG all-terrains 4 years and 40k miles. (3/4 ton) They're starting to dry rot so I think it's about time for some new shoes. I like the bfgs, but does it make more sense to put real mudders on the back and street tires on the front? I have heard of people doing this but does it look funky? I would get the same size on all four tires. Would fuel mileage increase or decrease? Should I just run all-terrains again?

Kind of unrelated, but what are the pros and cons of installing a locker on the rear? Worth it? I spend 90% of my time on the pavement but run ranch roads a few times a month and they're slick after it rains.

    Thanks for the info.

I would run 4 of the same. Whether you go A/T or M/T. Personally, I run the M/T on mine. Although it is 4wd. I get the same mileage out of an A/T vs M/T and love the look much better.

As far as a locker. I would say, it is awesome to have one. Not worth the extra money for me. But everyone has different needs and wants.

If you have an open diff, anything would be better. I have always had limited slip diff's and gotten by pretty good. Although there are times I had wished I had a locker.

i would run all 4 the same no matter what kind.. i would prob go a/t just because its a better ride and your spending 90% on pavement... a locker would be better obviously but i wouldnt say its worth spending the money..
